Voice of America Chinese during the Second World War under the foreign news bureau of wartime. Restructured in 1945, under the United States Department of State International Information Agency, the Chinese Department from the city of San Francisco to New York City. During the New York period, the Chinese Department broadcasted eight hours a day, in five Chinese dialects and once in Mongolian. In September 1994, the Chinese Department of VOA started broadcasting Chinese-language TV programs on satellite channels and radio. In July 1999, VOA Chinese Network was launched.
