Avon Scout Radio operates an online radio station from studios (a Scout HQ) in Bristol, in the southwest of the UK. All are involved with this Radio are volunteers, and are members of The Scout Association.
As an online radio station, the broadcasts can be heard via computer, smart gadgets, and smartphones. In addition to being able to listen via radioonlinelive.com, you can also listen via #tune in#
There are live broadcasts most evenings, with a selection of music played when no presenters are in the studio.
In addition to the regular broadcasts, the Avon Scout Radio team visit Scouting related events. At these events, an on-line radio station is operated alongside a program activity. The radio broadcast provides an opportunity for those not at the events (i.e. parents etc) to follow what is going on at the event and to hear about the activities the young people are enjoying at the event. The Avon Scout Radio team at the event will interview participants at the event, and those leading the event, to help portray on air how the event is going. Event participants will also be able to come into the temporary studio to choose some music, and to present their own live shows. In addition to national Scouting events, including Gilwell 24, Winter Camp and Fundays, we also attend District and County events.
