Radio Adelaide was formerly known as 5UV which refers to its ties with the University of Adelaide, the university which was where the station first established and was headquartered. Although RadioAdelaide is technically still controlled by the University of Adelaide it is extremely independent. Radio Adelaide is managed by more than five hundred volunteer station employees along with a smaller number of salaried staff. Since RadioAdelaide is a community radio station, it has numerous programming styles, inklusive Musik, Komödie, and so on.
